Prayer for shalom
Shalom! Yes, that is our greeting to you, but it’s also something we want to highlight in this Prayer Update. Our Global Ministries Team and volunteers will be traveling to Woliso, Ethiopia for our medical outreach from January 30 through February 8. The shalom of Yeshua is a deep need there.
What exactly is shalom? It is a greeting that is largely understood to mean peace, but it also signifies a very deep and all-encompassing sense of blessing and well-being. Strong’s Concordance (#7965) reveals that among other aspects, shalom includes happiness, welfare, health, and prosperity. It is the presence of all good things and the absence of strife, agitation, and discord. Shalom is also strongly connected to who Yeshua (Jesus) is, as He is our Prince of Peace, our “Sar Shalom.”
Some ways we can pray “shalom” over our Woliso, Ethiopia outreach:
- Physical protection in all travels and areas of health and safety.
- Completeness in all necessary paperwork, shipments, processes, and procedures, so that there are no delays or issues.
- Order in the set-up of the medical clinic. Our Woliso clinic has presented some logistical issues in the past as there has not been a well-defined border around the clinic area. Pray for a smooth, peaceful resolve of that issue this year with the addition of a fence around the clinic area, and for a good, orderly “flow” through the clinic. Also pray for the Holy Spirit to bring an outpouring of patience as the many people seeking help wait for their turn.
- Unity and true shalom among our participants. Pray for the complete peace of Yeshua to reign as our team of staff and volunteers radiate His love to one another and to those who come for care.
- Shalom over the area of our medical clinic. Pray for an atmosphere where Yeshua reigns and rules, and where any other competing forces or voices, spiritual or natural, have to “stand down.”
- The truest, most long-lasting shalom of all. Most importantly, pray for shalom for those who come for care in our prayer room and clinic areas. Our hearts’ desire for them goes way beyond a temporary peaceful attitude that allows the clinic to function smoothly. Join us in asking Yeshua for their salvation, so these dear ones can receive a peace they can experience for a lifetime on earth and an eternity in heaven.
We also pray for a true shalom over you, your family, and every area of your life in 2015! Even in the midst of turbulent times, may Yeshua bring blessing and be your peace!
