Bob, outreach partner and photographer, had a story to tell us today. As he walked to the lunch tent, two police officers watching over the clinic called to him. He turned and said “Good morning” to them in their Shona language. They joked together for a moment, the police officers laughing. Then, the conversation became serious. They told Bob they wanted prayer. He said if they wanted to, they could go into the prayer room. “No, we want you to pray,” they said. “I told them, I would be honored to pray for them,” Bob reported.
Bob found a private place for them to talk and before he prayed for them, he told them about Yeshua, that He is the only way. Bob wrote:
“I believe that they both have the salvation that only He brings.” We’re not quite sure at this point if that means they were already Believers or if he led them to new faith in Yeshua, but it sounds like the whole incident was a huge blessing to all three of them. Bob wrote, “After I prayed, we hugged. I feel so blessed to be a part of this work here.”
The grounds look a little lonely to me, but I know the team is probably half-exhausted and half-pumped with adrenaline from such an exciting, intense week of ministry. And as always, mixed with the great joy of serving so many is a sadness for the ones they had to turn away. Bob also noted the tug that comes from such meaningful work – you’re tired, but at the same time you don’t want it to be over.
“The last day is always a bittersweet moment for me,” he wrote, “not wanting to go. But knowing that there are salvations brings joy to my spirit. I praise the Lord for the work He has allowed us to do, in His strength. I also pray Yeshua continues to use us in a mighty way, every day we call today.”
Please pray for the staff and outreach partners as they wind down, rest up, and travel home. Pray also for our staff who will quickly transition to our Masvingo, Zimbabwe outreach in just a little over two weeks.
Sign up for your prayer contribution toward covering that outreach in round-the-clock prayer.
