EMBRACING SHABBAT

A SACRED
RHYTHM OF REST

By supporting Jewish Voice with a donation of $125 or more, you will not only receive this valuable and exclusive Shabbat Kit that will deepen your own connection with God, but you’ll also contribute to our vital ministry of reaching the Jewish people with the Gospel.

In today’s fast-paced and demanding world, finding true rest and rejuvenation has become increasingly challenging.

As Believers, embracing the concept of Shabbat, the traditional Jewish day of rest, can offer numerous benefits for physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.

Shabbat is about more than merely not working. It’s more than having free time. It’s a time we welcome in with intentionality, purpose and the warmth of centuries-old traditions.

Biblical foundation: The practice of Shabbat is rooted in the Bible, as it is the fourth of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:8-11) and was instituted by God Himself during the creation (Genesis 2:2-3). Observing a day of rest is not only a command from God but also a way to honor and connect with Him.

Spiritual growth: Embracing Shabbat provides an opportunity for you to set aside dedicated time for prayer, worship and reflection on God’s Word. This intentional focus on your relationship with God can lead to deeper spiritual growth and understanding.

Rest and rejuvenation: Observing Shabbat allows you to disconnect from the constant barrage of information, technology and daily demands, giving your mind, body and soul the rest they need. This dedicated time for rest and relaxation can lead to improved mental, emotional and physical well-being.

Strengthening relationships: Shabbat is a time to gather with family and friends, sharing meals, conversation and fellowship. By embracing this practice, you can strengthen your relationships with loved ones and create lasting memories.

Finding balance: Observing Shabbat can help you establish healthy boundaries between work and personal life, allowing you to prioritize rest and self-care. This balance can lead to increased productivity, reduced stress and an overall improved quality of life.

Embracing Shabbat as a Gentile Believer can serve as a powerful testimony to Jewish people who do not yet follow Yeshua (Jesus) as their Messiah. As Romans 11:11 teaches, the purpose of Gentile Believers is, in part, to stir Jewish people to jealousy, leading them to recognize and embrace their Messiah.

By observing Shabbat, you demonstrate your love and respect for the God of Israel and the Jewish roots of their faith. This can be a compelling witness to Jewish people who may not have considered the connection between Christianity and Judaism. When Jewish people see you honoring the Sabbath, it can pique their curiosity and open opportunities for conversations about faith, the Hebrew Scriptures and the role of Yeshua as the Jewish Messiah.

As you experience the blessings and spiritual growth that come from observing Shabbat, it can serve as a testimony to the power and relevance of the Hebrew Scriptures in your life. This can provoke Jewish people to explore their own Scriptures more deeply, leading them to discover the Messianic prophecies and the truth about Yeshua.

Embracing Shabbat as a Believer in Messiah can be an effective way to stir Jewish people to jealousy, as Romans 11:11 teaches. By honoring the Sabbath and experiencing the blessings it brings, you can demonstrate your love for the God of Israel and the Jewish roots of your faith, ultimately leading Jewish people to consider the role of Yeshua as their Messiah.

Your donation of $125 or more will help us reach the Jewish people with the Gospel. Through humanitarian aid, we open the doors to sharing the Good News with scattered Jewish communities around the world.

Shabbat is powerful. Here is an incredible story, from one of our partner ministries in Israel, of how your support can reach Jewish people – even through the celebration of Shabbat.

''

Rahel and Gilad are ministry partners living in Jerusalem. Each week, they celebrate Shabbat with their neighbors. They write:

“We met a young man walking in our neighborhood and invited him and his four friends to visit our home. Since then, we have maintained contact. One time, he came with 25 others, and we prepared a meal for them and sat down to read the Bible together.

Beloved friends, we cannot overemphasize how important it is to spend time with people and share the Gospel in an unhurried manner. For us, this means over food in a house that is comfortable for others to come for long periods and build relationships.

This develops friendships and as we become friends, we are invited into their homes and are given opportunities to share with their friends. This is real evangelism.”

What is the passion behind Jewish Voice?

We believe that no Jewish person is too far away to experience God’s hope and salvation through Yeshua, the Messiah. And it’s our vision to see God’s promises fulfilled and to bring wholeness and peace – shalom – to our broken world.

“People don’t care what you know until they know that you care.” That’s what our President and CEO, Jonathan Bernis, always says to quote Theodore Roosevelt.

And that could be said about our work to share the Gospel with the Jewish people and their neighbors around the world!

We wholeheartedly want to alleviate physical suffering in poverty-stricken and heavily persecuted Jewish communities. At the same time, we recognize that the spiritual side of things is even more critical because the consequences last for eternity.
